YOUTH AT THE BOOTH

Youth At Booth
What is Youth at the Booth?

Since 2006, more than 4,000 high school seniors in Franklin County have made history as the youngest poll workers in Ohio. These students are staffing official voting precincts through Youth at the Booth, one of Kids Voting's most exciting programs.

Kids Voting coordinates this project exclusively in Franklin County through authorization of the Franklin County Board of Elections. Students are making up more than 15 percent of our county’s poll workers.

To get a first-hand look at high school students preparing to work at the polls, watch the video below, prepared by Upper Arlington High School teacher, Cathy Johnson.

Youth at the Booth makes a difference.

It gives high school seniors a real life opportunity to see the election process in action by serving as precinct officials at the polls. The experience motivates these students to be active voters and citizens and to influence their peers as well.

Most students who take part say they will work in future elections, providing a much needed source of poll workers. Perhaps more important, more than ninety percent of the student poll workers who were not planning to vote in future elections say they will do so as a result of Youth at the Booth.
