The Kids Voting Central Ohio Citizenship Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship to provide financial assistance to one high school graduate who will be attending post-secondary education and who will continue to be active in promoting citizenship, political awareness, and participation in the democratic process.
Eligibility
The Kids Voting Central Ohio Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from a participating school district. The recipient will have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to citizenship through community and school activities including, but not limited to, the Kids Voting Youth Council, the Kids Voting Youth at the Booth program, or the Kids Voting Youth Summit.
Family (defined as son, daughter, or other relative living in the home) of Kids Voting Board Members, staff, and Honorary Board Members are not eligible for the scholarship.
Criteria
- Scholarship – the nominee must maintain at least a 3.0 grade average.
- Leadership – the nominee will have demonstrated leadership among peers.
- Citizenship – the nominee will exemplify the values of Kids Voting, supporting the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, political involvement and awareness, participation in voting.
Selection Process
Kids Voting staff will review applications to determine if all qualifications are met prior to submitting applications to the Scholarship Committee for review. Applicants not meeting qualifications or incomplete applications will not be submitted to the committee for review.
Qualifications:
- Nomination by teacher, principal, counselor, or KV Board Member
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Resume
- GPA – 3.00 minimum
- Application questions and essays completed
