JOIN THE KIDS VOTING YOUTH COUNCIL
|
Kids Voting is seeking energetic teens who are interested in becoming a youth voice for the program. Council members help shape Kids Voting projects and events and have special opportunities to meet with community leaders and elected officials.
Council members meet throughout the school year to work together on projects that help engage other young people in politics, public policy and community service.
The 2007-2008 council planned and helped conduct an event at COSI at which about 30 high school students created public service announcements encouraging teens to register and vote.

Be a Youth at the Booth Election Day Poll Worker
|
The presidential election November 4, 2008 will be a historical event and and is expected to set new records for voter turnout.
Thanks in large part to events launched by Kids Voting and Columbus Alternative High School students in 2005, 17 year-old high school seniors can play a vital role in the election by working as paid precinct officials. Legislation expanding the number of student poll workers was signed into law in June 2008.
In conjunction with the Franklin County Board of Elections, Kids Voting Central Ohio is the official coordinator of Youth at the Booth and enlists Franklin County high school seniors who are 17 years of age, students in good standing, and having permission from their parents and their schools.
Students must be mature, highly motivated, and willing to work the entire day from 5:30 a.m. until at least 8:30 p.m. on November 4, 2008. Students can earn $110 for attending a mandatory training session and working on Election Day.
Contact your social studies teacher if you are interested in participating in this program.
